After learning that CraziBeatiful – a new online women’s magazine was calling for contributors, I immediately knew it was something I needed to pursue.  As I’ve been writing the stories of my children’s births I realized how much I really have to say.  I’ve been through many transformations in my life and I had the strongest impression the other day that I need to continue to express myself and share with others my personal journey.  I am still in the process of writing my son Daniel’s birth story and have already written 4 pages and I haven’t even gotten to the actual birth – just the pregnancy so far!  Four pages of writing and I haven’t even been trying to write any detailed information at all.  When I realized how much I had to say, I then had the impression that uh-oh…brace yourselves…I’m supposed to write a book.  Umm…This is not something that I had planned on doing, ever.   I have never been much of a writer and admittedly suck at writing in my journal – which in my youth I was taught was extremely important.  I look at others in my life that have more schooling and are more eloquent in their writing and speech and I think they should write a book.  But I have never thought in a million years that I would be the one to write a book someday.  I’m not saying it’s going to be anytime soon, but I had the impression, so I know it’s something I’m going to do.

So, back to the original subject of this post…I put off emailing about the CraziBeautiful magazine for many excuses that I had created in my head.  However, on Monday I finally decided to delay no longer and send off an email expressing why I thought I had something to offer to their online magazine.  Tuesday morning, the very next day, I got an email telling me they wanted me to contribute to their CB Living section.  I am going to be a monthly contributor!  Wow, did that happen fast or what?  I’m so glad that I finally heeded the prompting/inspiration that I received about that one!  I am still pretty much in shock that I got what I wanted and so quickly.  However, I accept this new challenge and am excited to learn and grow in ways that I can’t even imagine right now!

Ok, so I'm sure it sounds goofy, but I feel like I driving in style now that we got a van.  For the past eighteen months or so since my hubby and I got married, we have been driving around two cars.  We get his three kids every other weekend and holiday and we always have “his” car and “her” car.  It kinda sucks.  We spend more gas money when we want to go somewhere and it’s just plain annoying.  Despite all that, we opted to stick with our two car arrangement until we could reasonably afford to purchase a vehicle that would sit eight.  We decided it was a want, not a need.  Due to other financial obligations we just weren’t able to do it before now.  Well, with our tax return money this year and the sell of my hubby’s beloved car, we were able to purchase a van.  We found a 2005 Chevrolet Venture that seats eight!  Eight passenger vans aren’t particularly easy to come by, but thanks to our good friend Chris, we were able to know exactly which makes and models to look for in our price range.  We felt good about this van as soon as we saw and drove it and bought it that same day.  Wahoo!  We can’t wait for the weekend when we have all six kids so we can go somewhere – together.

We have a date for Miriam’s heart surgery – March 9th.   It will be done up at Primary Children’s Hospital.  We don’t have a time yet and probably won’t until the pre-op appointment on the 8th.  The reality is sinking in today and I just want to curl up in a ball and cry.  The peace and confidence that everything will be alright seems very far away right now.  Please pray for our family, especially my little angel.

After figuring out that I’m a type 3- active, reactive, swift, dynamic, rich and textured woman, I was able to release a lot of judgment that I’ve had for myself.  I highly recommend taking the Energy Profiling course by Carol Tuttle.  You can purchase a bundle package for only $39.  I was able to get the book and the online course which I have loved since it is very interactive and I’m a visual learner.  Energy profiling helps you define the inner movement and expression of you.  We are all moving through life with different movements and there are 4 categories that Carol Tuttle has defined into her profiling system.  This system isn’t about filling in bubbles on a worksheet; it’s about recognizing who you are at your core and what your natural movement and energy say about you.  You ultimately decide what type you are and answer the question, “who am I?”

Once taking the energy profiling course I highly recommend continuing and taking the Dressing your Truth course.  When you wear clothing that matches your movement, you will feel and look better in the clothes because they are in harmony with you. We are all dressing ourselves everyday so why not wear what is in harmony with your inner nature?  I love this idea of wearing clothes and accessories that manifest the inner energy and movement of me.  I have always been drawn to type 3 clothing but didn’t know what about them I was drawn to or why.  While watching the DYT course I kept pausing and telling my husband how much I loved everything they were showing.  Can you tell I’m passionate about this??  I am!  I have had a limited wardrobe for many years and I’m excited to purge out the limited old clothes I’ve had and make room for clothes and accessories that honor the truth of my angular, rich, dynamic and textured self!

Savers had a 50% off sale on Presidents Day and I got some great deals!  I got 3 pairs of pants, 1 pair of capris, and 1 pair of pants for only $15.  Several were from Old Navy and also Dockers brand.  Wow!

If you are interested in giving yourself a gift, I highly recommend both the Energy Profiling and Dressing Your Truth Courses.  I’ve been planning for months to use some tax return money to treat myself and was excited to finally get it.  As an added bonus you can get an additional 15% your purchase through 2/19th.  Now is the time to start living your truth!  If you do take the course, please share with me with Energy Type you are!  I'd love to hear your experience.

Albert Einstein once said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”  In order to stop the insanity we have to be willing and open to change.  Sometimes this is easier said than done, but in my life I have learned the most, gained the most insight, and have made pivitoal transformations in my life when I am willing to do something different.  I receive a weekly inspiriational reminder from Carol Tuttle and this is the one that was in my inbox today.

“Each of us has the freedom to choose perceptions of our life experiences and the world around us that support us in feeling good all the time.  Each of us has the power to change how we feel instantly.”  ( Remembering Wholeness, pg. 92)

If you’d like to subscribe to receive her weekly reminders, click here.  Also, I’ve been introduced to a couple websites the past week that are amazing and can help you make changes in your life.

The Tapping Solution

The following are the Valentines we made for Evan's class.  The chocolate bars were for his teachers and the sucker holder for his classmates.  Sorry the picture for the sucker holder isn’t the best, it’s been overcast and I can’t seem to get the lighting right.

I’m working on the other birth stories and doing research on marketing my Etsy shop.  If anyone has any feedback or ideas they are welcome!

Evan was born July 23, 2003 at the Madison Hospital in Rexburg Idaho.  I was married to his father at the time and we were both students at BYU-Idaho.  I was young, inexperienced, naïve, and scared.  His birth was almost 7 years ago and I was a completely different person then.  I have changed dramatically since those days but to understand that change I must detail who I was and how I thought back then.  I scrapbooked his first year of life while he was still young and I wrote down his birth story in that scrapbook.

Being pregnant wasn’t the best experience of my life, but the end result sure was worth those long nine months of waiting.  I went to Madison Women’s Clinic for my pre-natal care and visited three different doctors – Dr. Allred, Dr.  Barton, and Dr. Crouch (ABC’s).  I listened to the advice of friends and went with this clinic because of the positive feedback I'd heard.  I figured that because there were 3 different doctors I'd get a good balance of perspectives and personalities. For the most part I liked them, but Dr. Barton was by far my least favorite and Dr. Crouch was my favorite.  I remember one time Dr. Barton was the doctor for my prenatal appointment and I was asking him a question.  He had is hand on the doorknob and about to walk out of the room and seemed bugged when he had to turn around and answer me.  It did help though to have their medical advice and reassurance that I was normal.  I read lots of magazines, books, and asked family and friends countless questions.  The first trimester I didn’t feel too great because I had morning sickness.  I threw up every morning and sometimes at night.  I was always hungry during the first months, so I would have to take snacks with me to school and work so I wouldn’t get sick.  I worked at 6am and would frequently throw up just before going to work and would cry on the drive to work.

Well things come together so beautifully sometimes and today I wanted to share two amazing messages that correlate just perfectly and how I felt inspired to action by them!

The first is a quote I’ve never heard before that I stumbled upon while searching through Etsy.

She is their blanket to warm them on a cold winter night. She is the food that satisfies their hungry spirit. She is their shelter from the storm, their comfort in times of pain, their nursemaid to heal all hurts. She is the wind that lifts them up when they have fallen. She is encouragement that guides them forward. She is the love that brought them here. She is the heart daily praying them through. She is their Mother."

The second message is a YouTube video I found on a blog I frequently read called Sweet Life in the Valley.  You can watch it below.  The essay for the video was written by Katherine Center and photos were taken by Shutter Sisters.  I cried as I watched this video the second time and had a reoccuring moment of inspiriation come to me again.

I have some amazing experiences that have helped shape into who I am today.  Three of these distinct experiences are the births of my three children.  I’ve been asked by my midwife before to write these experiences down and I just haven’t done it.  Well, I guess the timing is right and I’m finally going to put my experiences into words.  Check back soon for a three part series about the births of my children.

And now to the video.

It is my belief that everything that manifests physically in our body has an emotional basis.  If there is a physical problem such as a bloody nose, or back ache in my family I almost immediately to go the book, Messages From The Body, by Ph.D. FKA Narayan-Singh Khalsa to better understand the emotional or physiological reason of the manifestation.   Narayan-Singh teaches in this book that,  "illnesses and disorders are linked to beliefs and changes of beliefs about oneself, about the nature of one's relationships with others, about one's position in the social world, and about where one stands in relation to the Universe. And these, in turn, are determined by one's life experiences, by one's interventions in the world, and by one's soul history."  I have a shorter version of this online book that is not copyrighted so I can make copies for anyone interested.  This is a great resource to add in your library if you want to better understand your own health and what is going on behind the scenes in your body.  It’s amazing how right on explanations are so you can acknowledge, own, and then bring it to the Savior.

In addition to this book, I also like to use Louise Hay's books that also break down the physical symptoms and emotional reasons behind them, but more importantly she then gives AFFIRMATIONS to help us change our thinking that created the dis-ease in the first place..   In addition to these tools, I also love to use herbs and will seek my herbal resources to find the best the Mother Earth has to offer as well.

Licorice root helps to break up and expel mucus that has settled in the lungs.  It is also a calming herb that can help when we need rest when we are sick.  Honey is anti-microbial that can help get to the cause of a cough.  With the cold and flu season upon us I made a batch of cough syrup for my family and have used it with great success.  You’ll simply need to purchase some licorice root at the health food store and you should be set.  Here is the recipe and instructions.

Licorice Honey Cough Syrup
½ cup dried licorice root
2 cups water
Bring to a boil then let simmer for 20 minutes or until the water is reduced by half.  Strain.  Add ½ cup honey while tea is warm and stir until dissolved.   Cool and then pour into a glass jar with a lid.  Store in the fridge for about a month.  Take 1 tsp. for cough as needed.
