Last month I had the opportunity to attend a live Dressing Your Truth event for Type 3 women.  I purchased the online course earlier this year and have wanted to attend a live class at the Center  For Living Your Truth in Draper, UT.  I was so excited to finally walk into the center and be with other women who move through life with the same energy as me!  I was even more excited to see a dear friend that I haven’t seen in months.  She has also taken the course and discovered that she is a type 1.  She was at the store purchasing some type 1 accessories and we ended up talking and sharing our stories about Energy Profiling and Dressing Your Truth.  It was so fun to reconnect with her and she ended up staying for the type 3 class with me and it just made my night so much better!

Hearing my friend talk about her struggle to accept herself as a type 1 really made me think about my similar journey of self acceptance this past year.  When I first learned about Energy Profiling on Carol Tuttle’s website I knew it was something that I needed to look into. I purchased the Energy Profiling course and knew immediately I was a type 3.  Active, reactive, dynamic, edgy, swift, determined, sure, purposeful, fiery, substantial and practical…yup, sounds like me.  However, as soon as I finished watching the course, all of my doubts about myself started creeping in.  I talked to others to try and validate what I already knew instinctively about myself.  I went back and forth trying to decide if I really was this type of woman and had to face all the judgments that I had against myself.  I spent several months really struggling with myself and allowing myself the freedom to be me.    

When I first watched the Type 3 Dressing Your Truth course nine months later I was excited and eager to implement the qualities of my nature into my clothes, makeup, and accessories.  The first big step for me was to get a Type 3 haircut – textured, edgy, and angled.  This was actually a really hard thing for me to do since I’ve never had my hair cut or styled that way.  I got my first edgy haircut at the Dressing Your Truth Salon and I loved it.  I had quite a big of anxiety about it but as soon as I saw the new me I felt more like myself than ever before.

Type 3’s don’t wear black.  In the fashion industry we are taught that every woman can wear black, but black is a still color – no movement and it’s very bold as well.  Considering my energy is rather high moving, black doesn’t work at all because of it's lack of movement.  I got rid of the black in my closet without too much of problem.  I do admit though that I still have some black shoes that are still sitting at the bottom of my closet that I need to just get rid of!  I have slowly introduced warmer colors into my wardrobe as my budget has allowed.  My new favorite place to shop is Saver’s because I always come home with several pieces without spending more than 20 or 30 dollars.  The exciting part for me was when I bought a bunch of Type 3 jewelry.  Type 3’s have a more substantial energy about them so chunky, big, and substantial pieces are great for us.  I love the jewelry in the DYT store and have had a fun time looking around for other pieces that will work for me.  I also love how Carol teaches woman to find their own beauty sixth sense and find out what works for them individually.  Not all type 3’s are going to wear the same clothes and have the same style.  I am learning more what I like and am allowing myself freedom to try new things that before DYT I would’ve been to scared to try. 

Makeup has been a big one for me since the past four years I haven’t worn much.  I usually stick to mascara and that’s it.  However, I did get some at the DYT store awhile ago that I finally started to use it this last month.  Right before the live class I attended I thought I should probably try to use it.  I actually liked the way it looked on me and got several options of what I can do from Anne at the live class.   

If Dressing Your Truth sounds fun, it is!  If it sounds like something you’d be interested in, I highly recommend investing in yourself and purchasing the course.  I really am grateful for the information that Carol has provided that really does go deeper than hair, clothes, and makeup.  Energy profiling has opened my eyes to see me for who I am and to love that dynamic woman inside of me.  Since I’ve been on this path to discover my truth it has truly helped me love parts of myself that in the past I judged and tried so desperately to change.  It has helped me to see the difference and beauty of other women in my life and to accept them as well.  I have a better understanding of why people act the way they do, especially my children, by knowing their energy types!  I love being able to talk to others who have gone through the information and have a better understanding of who we are.  If you’ve taken the course I’d love to talk about your journey or if you take it in the future, please share your thoughts with me!
